  • 1) The size of the area that the pirates operate in is the size of western Europe. Trying to find a 20-30 foot whaler towing a couple of skiffs or a 80-100 foot dhow (in an area with hundreds of regional dhows doing traditional trading) is like finding a needle in a haystack.

  • JM, Just a correction. It wasn't solely US sanctions but UN Security Council Resoultions 661 and 687. Sanctions brought about due to actions/behavior of Saddam without any due regard to possible consequences inflicted upon the Iraqi people, his people.

  • Petty Officers are still considered as "enlisted" due to the fact that they enlist for a specific time of service in the form of a contract. Once their intitial contract of enlistment nears completion, they can opt to "reenlist" for additional time of service or to ETS out of the military.

  • I've been serving as an officer in the US Army for almost 15 years now. I'm an MP and have seen the number of females serving in the MP Corps continuously rise during that time. I started out in a DIV MP Co as a PL and had a handful of female MPs.
